Many years ago Arthur Hardiman and Malcolm Hughes voiced the need of a church ministry for the senior members of our congregation.
It was in 2001 that the "Lightbearers" was formed and this was very successful for five years. Unfortunately this all-day ministry eventually came to an end and in 2006 it was replaced by the "50 Plus" Friday afternoon Fellowship group.
The current leaders are Keith and Wendy Gibbins, who are ably supported by many other willing hands!
Our group meets at 2:00pm for a relaxed light lunch followed by a time of sharing and prayer. We then enjoy a thirty minute Bible Study which encourages group input, and we usually end the meetings at 3:45pm.
Like many church gatherings the bulk of our support comes from the ladies and we would love to have and encourage a few more men to join our group (as well as more ladies!).
Our aim is to share the love of the Lord Jesus and to watch out for and encourage those who may feel lonely and in need of caring fellowship.
